Why Did You Choose St. Paul Lutheran School?
St. Paul Lutheran School is a One of a Kind choice for families who want their students to know Jesus Christ on a daily basis and exceed academic expectations. Each and every day our outstanding teachers instruct students with love, grace and a commitment to empower them.
At weekly school chapel, and throughout the week, our students get to hear the living Gospel and testimonies of the Bible. At chapel, we pray in community for all of our families. We are honored that our Praise Dance Ministry worships with us and sets the atmosphere. In this ministry, students have a deep desire to share their love for God and worship using dance to express those gifts. This takes a commitment as they spend time before and after school practicing, praising and learning new routines – all for His glory.
Each Wednesday at 9 a.m. on our Facebook page – St. Paul Lutheran Church & School (Grand Crossing), we invite you to join us in chapel with the school children or watch the broadcast to get a midweek spiritual boost. You will witness how heartwarming it is to watch our children of God improve their reading and public speaking skills each week as they read God’s word and mature while learning proper church behavior. The strong interaction in faith dialog with the school’s spiritual father – Pastor Jeffrey Howell - gives our students an opportunity to connect with him as our leader.
It is this spiritual foundation that helps our students to become empowered and excel in academics. In our classrooms, we have one on one instruction with teachers and an instructional coach who PUSH (Push, Uplift, Socialize, and Hands-on) their academic limits. At St. Paul, since we are a smaller, private school, we have many unique opportunities for Experiential Learning – learning beyond the four walls of the classroom.
University of Chicago’s Logan Center for the Arts Poetry Slam
This year, while many of those opportunities became virtual, they were indeed all learning experiences. A recent example is our school’s participation in celebrating April – Poetry Month with the University of Chicago’s Logan Center for the Art’s Poetry Slam/Festival. We invite you to watch our students perform at www.logancenter.digital/matinees and scroll down to April Matinees K-8th. Click on the video and at the six-minute mark, you will see the familiar beautiful faces of our students.
We thank Mrs. Stark for coordinating the school’s participation and Mr. Lee for the video production. We are grateful for all of our students who participated and as you will see, they had fun! We are so proud of our students and their creative gifts.
At St. Paul School, we also teach our students life skills they can use beyond the classroom. Our 7th and 8th grade students recently completed CPR training by our Health and Wellness Coordinator, Nurse Patricia Braun. She instructed our students how to save lives in emergency situations and now they are CPR certified through the American Red Cross.
As you can see, our teachers and staff at St. Paul Lutheran School work tirelessly day in and day out to provide an education of excellence for your student. We hope you took the opportunity to meet with our teachers and learn about individual strategies for your student to excel during the final weeks of the school year during Parent Teacher Conferences. If not, please call the office today to make other arrangements. Parent/teacher communication is critical in helping your student succeed.
From our strong spiritual foundation, academic excellence and unique learning opportunities, we know that there are many reasons to choose St. Paul Lutheran School for your student’s education. As we are planning for the 2021-2022 school year, NOW is the time to register as there is a discounted rate if you register before April 30.
We also encourage you to tell your family and friends about your choice for your child’s education. Your referral can help another family choose St. Paul Lutheran School where we truly are extended family and only want the best for your child. We thank you for choosing St. Paul Lutheran School where every child is seen, heard and flourishes. Since 1889, we remain committed to creating tomorrow’s leaders through faith, family and education.
